Data transfer
Several games in the Fire Emblem series allow the transferring of data from one game to another in order to obtain extra content. This page documents all such instances when a game can grant extra content when it is linked to another game.
Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade
Data for this game can be transferred from:
In the Japanese version of The Blazing Blade, the completed save data of The Binding Blade can be read from the Extras menu, unlocking Eliwood's tale and the extended epilogue involving Roy and Lilina, which normally require finishing Lyn's tale, and clearing the main game nine times respectively. If the save data ending at the Final Chapter is read, the extended epilogue involving Zephiel and Jahn is unlocked, which normally requires clearing the main game eleven times.
In the North American version, if the player's Game Boy Advance is connected to a GameCube running the Mario Kart: Double Dash!! bonus disc's "Fire Emblem GBA: Bonus Items" section, several weapons, items, and music used in the Sound Room can be accessed. Originally in Japan, these items were available only through taking one's copy of The Blazing Blade to a Monthly Nintendo demo kiosk at certain department stores and transferring the songs and items into the game on-site.[1] As no such facilities existed outside of Japan at the time, the items were instead made available through this bonus disc. No equivalent distribution was made for the European or Oceanian releases.
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
Data for this game can be transferred from:
In Path of Radiance, if the GameCube is connected to a Game Boy Advance which has one of the three GBA Fire Emblem games inserted via a GBA Link Cable, the game's extras menu, which is unlocked after beating the game, will display an option to view the official artwork of the characters in the connected game.
In addition, linking with a GBA game will also unlock one of three Trial Maps; each game unlocks a different map, requiring all three games be connected with Path of Radiance if the player wishes to unlock all of the Trial Maps. The Binding Blade unlocks Desperation, The Blazing Blade unlocks Escape, and The Sacred Stones unlocks Trapped.
Due to The Binding Blade not releasing outside Japan, the Binding Blade artwork is completely inaccessible in the international regions of Path of Radiance, though their data still exists and can be reenabled through the use of cheating devices. The Trial Map Desperation is changed to be unlocked by linking with The Blazing Blade or The Sacred Stones in the international versions.
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Data for this game can be transferred from:
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn has perhaps the most extensive usage of data transferring in the entire series; there are many gameplay bonuses and extra content that can be unlocked if a Path of Radiance save file is transferred into Radiant Dawn.
To transfer Path of Radiance data to Radiant Dawn, a GameCube memory card with a completed Path of Radiance save file needs to be inserted to a Wii running Radiant Dawn. When starting a new game in Radiant Dawn, the player will be prompted to choose to transfer a completed Path of Radiance save file. A bug in the early NTSC-U versions of Radiant Dawn causes the game to freeze if any Path of Radiance save files on Easy Mode are found in the memory card; deleting these saves or using an updated copy fixes the issue.
Character stats
If a unit promoted or starts in their most advanced class, hit their maximum level, and reached their maximum in a stat in a transferred Path of Radiance file, they will receive a bonus in that stat in Radiant Dawn. The stat bonuses are +5 for HP, and +2 for strength, magic, skill, speed, luck, defense and resistance.
- Example: In a Path of Radiance game, if Oscar promoted to Paladin, reached level 20, and reached 60 HP and 26 strength (his stat caps in those two areas) by Endgame, when the file is transferred into Radiant Dawn, he will have 5 more HP and 2 more strength when he first becomes playable in Part III, Prologue.
There are three exceptions to the above system, which are Sothe, Largo, and Danved. In Sothe's case, should he reach level 20 in a transferred Path of Radiance save file, all of his stats with the exception of build and movement will be directly transferred into Radiant Dawn, even if a transferred stat is worse than its original base stat. The stats are transferred with respect to the Rogue class's stat caps; for example, if Sothe's resistance in Path of Radiance is over the Rogue's resistance cap of 15, Sothe will have 15 resistance in Radiant Dawn when the save file is transferred and he joins.
Largo, by virtue of not being playable in Radiant Dawn, does not receive any bonuses; thus, him capping a stat in Path of Radiance does not have any benefit in Radiant Dawn. On the contrary, stats capped by Devdan in Path of Radiance do provide bonuses to Danved in Radiant Dawn.
Due to joining at level 20 with capped strength, recruiting Giffca in Path of Radiance's Endgame will result in him automatically receiving a +2 strength bonus when he joins in Radiant Dawn's Part IV, Endgame (1).
Weapon experience
A unit's weapon level by the end of Path of Radiance can result in boosts to their weapon experience (WEXP) in Radiant Dawn if said Path of Radiance save file is transferred into Radiant Dawn. The minimum weapon level threshold in Path of Radiance to receive a WEXP bonus in Radiant Dawn is C.
Weapon experience bonuses in Radiant Dawn | ||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Weapon level in Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn | Total WEXP bonus in Radiant Dawn | Cumulative WEXP required to reach further weapon level in Radiant Dawn | ||||||
D | C | B | A | S | SS | |||
E | -- | +30 | +70 | +120 | +180 | +250 | +330 | |
D | -- | -- | +40 | +90 | +150 | +220 | +300 | |
C | +40 | -- | -- | +50 | +110 | +180 | +260 | |
B | +80 | -- | -- | -- | +60 | +130 | +210 | |
A | +120 | -- | -- | -- | -- | +70 | +150 | |
S | +160 | -- | -- | -- | -- | -- | +80 |
- Example: In Radiant Dawn, Jill starts with a B weapon level in axes. If she reached S in axes in a Path of Radiance save and the save is transferred into Radiant Dawn, she will gain a +160 boost to her WEXP in axes, enough to instantly increase her weapon level from B to S (as it takes 130 WEXP to increase it from B to S) and be 30 WEXP into reaching SS in axes.
Bond supports
If a unit reached an A-rank support with another unit in a Path of Radiance save, it will become a bond support when the file is transferred into Radiant Dawn, giving the pair a +5 critical hit and critical avoid bonus when they are adjacent to each other.
Character recruitment
Some units can be recruited by some extra characters with a transferred Path of Radiance save file. In Jill and Zihark's cases, they are only recruitable if their extra recruiter has acquired an A-rank support with them in the transferred Path of Radiance save file. There are no characters that are only recruitable if a Path of Radiance save file is transferred.
Chapter | Recruitable character | Always recruitable by | Also recruitable with a transferred file |
---|---|---|---|
Part III, Chapter 7; Part III, Endgame | Jill | Haar | Mist |
Zihark | Lethe, Mordecai | Brom, Ilyana | |
Part IV, Chapter 3 | Stefan | Micaiah | Lethe, Mordecai |
Coins
Any and all Coins that the player possesses at the end of a Path of Radiance game will be present in Ike's convoy in the beginning of Part III in Radiant Dawn game if the Path of Radiance save file is transferred to Radiant Dawn. Coins are much more useful in Radiant Dawn compared its predecessor, as they can be used during forging to add a random bonus to weapons, whereas they can only be sold for exactly 1 gold in Path of Radiance.
Support Archive
All Path of Radiance supports unlocked across all save files in a transferred Path of Radiance copy can be viewed in the "POR Support Archive" section of Radiant Dawn's extras menu.
Extra base conversation
Transferring a Path of Radiance save file where Ike and Soren have reached an A-rank support with each other is one of the requirements to view the final base conversation in the game: "Soren" in Part IV, Endgame (5).
Fire Emblem Fates
Data for this game can be transferred from:
If the player's Nintendo 3DS has StreetPass data for Fire Emblem Awakening, they will obtain the Emblem Shield, an accessory item which reduces damage taken when in other castles.
Fire Emblem Engage
Data for this game can be transferred from:
At launch, Fire Emblem Engage had a cross-promotional event with Fire Emblem Heroes which added several items related to the latter game into Engage. During the event's duration, which was from January 20, 2023 to April 5, 2023, the player could access purchase the "Nintendo Switch Game Bonus Code + 5 Orbs" item for free in Heroes' My Nintendo store. This would create a code which could be entered in the Nintendo Switch eShop to obtain several items.
After the end of the promotion period, the items were made available to download directly through the Nintendo eShop as free DLC for Engage; they are labelled as the "Order of Heroes Item Set".
Item | Type | |
---|---|---|
Fólkvangr | Sword | |
Fensalir | Lance | |
Nóatún | Axe | |
Alfonse | S-Rank Bond Ring | |
Sharena | S-Rank Bond Ring | |
Anna | S-Rank Bond Ring |
Fire Emblem Heroes
Data for this game can be transferred from:
Fire Emblem Heroes has had two limited-time events that coincide with the releases of Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Engage as promotion for the two respective games; in both cases, the player is rewarded if they have their Nintendo Account linked to both Heroes and a Nintendo Switch, and own the promoted game in question. If the player owns a physical copy of the game, they must also manually redeem the copy's gold points; something which is automatically done when buying a digital copy.
For the Three Houses promotion, if an eligible copy of Three Houses is detected from July 26, 2019 to June 29, 2020, the player could obtain a 5★ copy of Byleth: Tested Professor.
For the Engage promotion, if an eligible copy of Engage is detected from January 20, 2023 to April 5, 2023, the player could purchase the "Nintendo Switch Game Bonus Code + 5 Orbs" item for free in Heroes' My Nintendo store to obtain 5 orbs.
Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes
Data for this game can be transferred from:
If the player's Nintendo Switch has save data from Fire Emblem: Three Houses or Warriors, they can obtain some bonus resources by accessing the "Save Data Bonuses" section of the exploration menu of the Base Camp. Both games give the same materials, and the player can access the rewards for both games once, effectively doubling the rewards if the player has save data for both games:
Item | |
---|---|
5,000 G | |
Smithing Stone ×50 | |
Owl Feather ×5 |
Save Data Bonuses cannot be collected again, even on a New Game + playthrough.
