The Fell Heir is the fifth chapter of the Fire Emblem Engage expansion Fell Xenologue. In this chapter, allies from Elyos must must save Alear and Nel from Nil, who reveals himself to be the mastermind behind the ruin of the parallel world.

It is not possible to return to the world map or the Somniel during this chapter.

Plot

Main article: The Fell Heir/Script

The Four Winds watch over Nel from a distance, discussing her situation and love for her world's Alear amongst themselves. After half an hour, Nel returns to the four, thank them for their consideration, and apologizes for not telling them about the royals being Corrupted earlier. The group then heads back to where Alear and Nil were, but they find neither of them. Soon after, Nil rushes to the group and claims that Alear took the Emblem Bracelets from them and left alone.

Using a tracking spell, Nil leads the group into a dark temple in Solm, where they are ambushed by a group of Corrupted. When Nel attempts to protect him, Nil chides her and moves to be next to the Corrupted. Showing them an awakened Emblem Chrom, Nil reveals himself as the source of the Corrupted and the conflict in this world, and states his wish to fulfill his father Sombron's ambitions. He then leaves to kill Alear. With Nil gone, he takes Nel's dragonstone with him, preventing her from transforming. In response, the Four Winds urge her to leave while they hold back the Corrupted, which she obliges to. Elsewhere in the temple, Nil meets with a trapped Alear, who dares him to kill them. Nil, however, keeps them alive for his own ends. Before he can force them to do his bidding, however, Nel uses her dragon form to break into their chamber, demanding him to stop following his dead father's ambitions. Nil then summons the Corrupted assassins who attacked Lythos Castle, and the two begin to duel.

Nel defeats her brother, which frees Alear from their prison. She then apologizes to Alear for her previous behaviour toward them. While Nil is still unconscious, Nel and Alear reclaim his Emblem Bracelet, and put its Emblem, Chrom, back into slumber. After the two leave, Nil awakens and chuckles. Meanwhile, the Four Winds continue to struggle against the Corrupted hordes, trapped inside by a magical sigil. Mauvier suggests destroying the four pillars holding up the temple, which would crush the Corrupted, alongside themselves. Left with no other option, Zelestia, Madeline, and Gregory agree, reluctantly in the latter's case. Mauvier recommends against Madeline participating as she still has many years ahead of her, but she refuses, as the plan depends on all four pillars falling at once. As the Corrupted begin to close in on them, the Four Winds separate and enact their plan. Outside the temple, Alear and Nel hear the temple crash down. Nil then approaches the two from behind and gloats about his success in killing the Four Winds. He then takes Nel hostage and teleports away to "an island that was in the clouds."

Sometime in the past, Sombron ruminates on his and the Alear of his world's inevitable demises. He also muses that one of his children is merely pretending to be Nel's twin, as her real twin died long ago.
