“ | Stop. We can save the world together. Don't you want to be there to see it? I'm not leaving the Gemstones OR my friends behind, Owain. You want to fight? We'll fight. BOTH of us. And in case you hadn't noticed, I'm not taking no for an answer. | ” | — Inigo |

The Future Past 2 (Japanese: 絶望の未来2 Future of Despair 2) is a downloadable content xenologue chapter in Fire Emblem Awakening. As a xenologue chapter, it does not officially bear a chapter number; if all xenologues are purchased and its list is viewed at the Outrealm Gate, The Future Past 2 is the twenty-third one from the top in the North American version of the game. Officially in Japan and unofficially in North America, The Future Past 2 is part of the second series of DLC releases, a distinction that does not exist in the PAL regions.
This chapter was first made available on October 11, 2012 in Japan, May 16, 2013 in North America, and June 13-14 in the PAL regions. PAL region players who purchased the Future Past Pack prior to The Future Past 2's official release were able to play the chapter a week early.
In this chapter, Naga tasks the Shepherds into protecting four children in a bleak alternate Ylissean future in their quest to deliver two Gemstones to their princess from suffering a grisly end. As it turns out, the children tasked to be protected are four boys familiar to the Shepherds.

The Future Past 2/Conversations
Naga meets Chrom and the Shepherds at the Outrealm Gate to send them to the same Outrealm as in The Future Past 1. Naga informs the Shepherds that four children went on a mission to recover Argent and Sable, but were killed in the process; she then sends them to aid the children in their mission.
In the Outrealm, Brady, Yarne, Inigo, and Owain have recovered the gemstones and are fleeing from Risen. They are pursued to a bridge; Yarne and Brady cross with the gemstones while Inigo and Owain guard their crossing. Once Yarne and Brady are across, Owain insists Inigo cross the bridge, then cut it to prevent the Risen from retaking the gemstones; Inigo refuses and cuts the bridge with them both on the other side, keeping the Risen from Yarne and Brady while staying to help Owain. Yarne wishes to turn back and help the others, but Brady convinces him to return to Ylisse with the gemstones to ensure Grima can be defeated.
The Shepherds then arrive to aid the children. Each child has the chance to talk to the playable version of themselves and their parents.
Once all the risen are defeated, if all the children survived, they regroup. Brady and Yarne chastise Inigo and Owain for attempting to sacrifice themselves before they all cheer up and return to Lucina; Owain notes that the Shepherds are absent, but thanks them in spirit. Naga congratulates Chrom for saving all the children, but warns that the Outrealm is not yet saved. In Ylisstol, Tiki is dying of the wound inflicted by Grima at the end of The Future Past 1. Lucina thinks to find help, but Tiki is resigned to her death; she attempts to encourage Lucina, as she can see the other children have been successful in their mission and Lucina can save the world by performing the Awakening rite, before succumbing to her wound.
If some of the children did not survive, Chrom laments that he could not save them all, but Naga assures him that their mission to deliver the gemstones was still successful. If none of the children survived, Naga states that the Outrealm's fate could not have been avoided, and that Chrom ought not blame himself.

Trivia
- It is implied that all three maps in the Future Past Pack take place in the same Outrealm, despite the bosses of both The Future Past 1 and this chapter not being able to coexist in normal circumstances.
- This chapter is one of three Awakening DLC chapters that prohibit Rescue staff usage, the others being Five-Anna Firefight and The Future Past 1.
