For the stat of the same name applied to units in Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, see Weight (unit).
Weight (重量 Weight) is a stat applied to weapons in the Fire Emblem series. It is concerned with the physical weight of the weapons and, accordingly, the ability of units to successfully wield weapons depending on their weight. Weight is used in the attack speed formula, typically subtracted from a unit's speed to simulate a heavy, large or otherwise cumbersome weapon slowing the unit down. From Thracia 776 onward, the effect of weight on units is mitigated somewhat by the constitution or strength stats; depending on the game, these stats are thrown into the formula and subtracted from the weapon's weight, allowing units with higher constitution/strength to suffer less of an attack speed penalty from wielding heavier weapons.
In Shin Monshou no Nazo and Awakening, weight is completely absent; attack speed is now determined based on speed alone.
