Talk:Bandit (character)

From Fire Emblem Wiki, your source on Fire Emblem information. By fans, for fans.

I'm not sure this character deserves his own page, but if he does have his own page, then for consistency, I think the Bandit from March Duty should get one too. He doesn't have a portrait as an enemy, but he is seen speaking before the battle, has a battle quote, has a death quote and even has boss music. He's just as much a character as this generic bandit Jotari (talk) 14:26, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

We've already discussed deletion of this page before and we voted not to delete it. (This was on Discord). PikaSamus (talk) 14:48, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
Also we've discussed that bandit and we voted to delete it (he used to have an article). PikaSamus (talk) 14:48, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

The ideas leading to deleting the New Mystery bandit were that there are other unambiguous generics with battle quotes and boss music (e.g. the "Mysterious Mage" in Chapter 4 of Three Houses), and his article had no information that was not covered by the chapter page. What made this character seem more significant is not as clear, but I imagine the unique portrait and affinity indicated he was someone worth an article. For the record, I agree that this character is not noteworthy enough for an article. — Thecornerman (talk) 14:56, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
I'd say all that equally applies to this bandit too, all of this information can be found on the Chapter page itself. I don't really care wether it's deleted (or the other one created), but I do think the wiki should have consistent criteria, and having a portrait that's technically not generic because it's only used once is a bit odd considering the number of actual bosses that don't have unique portraits because of portrait reuse. Especially in the Fodlan's game. Like Baron Dominic would fail under the same criteria as he both lacks a name and a unique designs. Obviously I don't think Baron Dominic's page should be deleted sice he has a personality (and a rather likeable one at that) and a role in the story, but that's also technically true for this bandit (he's working with the assassins and the attack on the village was part of the plan to assassinate Marth). While there are a number of principles and guidelines underlying the content and structure of the wiki, the only ultimate criteria for anything is community consensus, and the consensus was to delete Ruffian (character) (5:0) and not delete Bandit (character) (4:2). If you want to, you can make an argument for deleting this page or remaking that one to try and influence that consensus. — Thecornerman (talk) 17:00, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
Jotari, thoughts on Captain? PikaSamus (talk) 17:06, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
What about a dedicated page for generic boss enemies that have no name yet nevertheless fullfil some kind of role be it in gameplay or story? Aside from dealing with edge cases like this in one fell swoop, it would give somewhere to link to other than a class in the chapter data for chapters that have generic monsters and stuff as bosses.
